One reason people need emergency care is for broken bones or fractures. Not everyone knows how to tell if it is a break or not. While an x-ray is the most reliable way to confirm a break, there are some indicators that you can look for.
The three key indicators of a broken bone are (1) you heard a snap or a grinding noise at the time of injury; (2) there is swelling, bruising and tenderness around the injured part; and (3) it is painful to move it, touch it or press on it.
The presence of these symptoms are suggestive of a break, but you may experience the second or third indicator with other injuries, as well, such as with a bad sprain. If you are injured and are concerned that you may have a sprain, strain or a break, come in to Las Vegas Urgent Care for evaluation and treatment today!
