Physicals are a regular part of our medical care. For example, they can be required to participate in school sports/activities, for work/insurance and before undergoing other medical treatments, such as surgeries. While you can get your physicals from your primary care physician, sometimes time does not allow for it, and there are still plenty of people who do not have a primary care physician, for various reasons. So, if you are in need of a physical, stop by Las Vegas Urgent Care and we’ll get you taken care of.
What to expect at a physical examination:
-Review of your history. This is your chance to mention any complaints or concerns about your health. Take the opportunity!
-Checking your vital signs, including your blood pressure, heart rate, respiration rate and temperature.
-Review of your general appearance. Your doctor can gather a lot of information by just looking at you and talking to you. For example, they can do a general examination of your memory, mental acuity, skin appearance, stance and gait.
-Heart and lung exams, by listening to your heart and lungs with a stethoscope.
-Head and neck exam. Your doctor will check insider your mouth and will check your ears, nose, sinuses, eyes, lymph nodes, thyroid and carotid arteries.
-Abdominal exam. Your doctor may tap on your abdomen and listen to it with a stethoscope
There may be additional things that are tested as well, but this gives you a general idea of the things that are covered in a physical examination. Call us today to either schedule a physical, or just stop in.
