Patients seeking emergency care could be treated more economically, and effectively, at an urgent care center. But, it is hard to decide when to choose urgent care over the emergency room. The following list is by no means all inclusive, but it may be helpful when making important health care decisions.

Urgent Care can be used for:

Any illness or injury that would prompt a visit to primary care physicians

Laceration repairs (minor cuts)

School and/ or work physicals

Drug screenings

Cerumen (ear wax) impaction removal

Infection due to ingrown toenails

Removal of skin tags, moles, and warts

Removal of foreign bodies from the eye

Travel immunizations

Treatment of minor burns

Workers’ compensation treatments

So, when is it better to go to the Emergency Room?

Chest pains that include shortness of breath and/or sweating

Serious or severe injuries, burns, or electrical shock

Vaginal bleeding during pregnancy

Altered mental states

Poison ingestion

These are just a few health issues that may arise and cause need for urgent or emergency care.
